Are you ready to go again? The Annual Advent challenge is due to start
All members and their Families are invited to take up the advent challenge and help raise money and awareness for Maggs Homeless local charity.
Last year we collectively walked or ran 11,198km, which was a fantastic achievement.
Between 1st December and 24th December inclusive, can you run or walk at least a mile every day for the whole challenge, and if you can, you will be entered into a prize draw, where you could win a £50 Voucher in favour of the Active Foot Company.
More importantly, for every km you walk, we ask you donate 5p per km, towards the amazing Charity Maggs, and details of that will come out during the challenge. Last year we raised over £1500, and this year we should pass the £15,000 mark since the Challenge started 7 years ago.
All this just for going out to run or walk, an activity you already enjoy, and in previous years the membership have always delivered an awesome result, and we have no doubt that this will be the case this year.
To ensure all your activities are registered, please mark your walks or runs on Strava, and have Steve Nicoll, our coordinator with the task of looking after 209 members activities, is on your followers list. If you don’t use Strava, then record your distance and send through to Steve, ideally each day, via the usual social media channels, i.e. Messenger, What’s App etc.
Maggs the charity are an amazing organisation, looking out for those less fortunate than ourselves and needing help, all in our local area. Every penny raised goes to help, and the charity are eternally grateful for all our help
You only have to go out for a run, past your local town, and you will see those poor unfortunate people, who have all their possessions, in some doorway, or sheltering where they can. In the local weather conditions we have had of late, no-one chooses to be out long term in these conditions. Any assistance via this wonderful agency, is really appreciated
Good Luck everyone!
PLEASE REMEMBER: in the cold, dark, and often slippy conditions, safety and your welfare is paramount, please ensure you are visible, and if possible run in a group, we want to ensure this test whilst testing, is as fun as we can make it over the duration of the challenge

About the Charity:

- Maggs gives homeless people somewhere warm and dry to spend the day after sleeping rough.
- Their staff and volunteers prepare healthy, simple food for homeless people, including breakfast and lunch, currently for five days a week.
- They provide clean, dry clothes to homeless people who are in need of them.
Once again, it has been a pleasure to organiser this event, and I am hoping you will agree, all the badgering will be worth it in the end!
All smiles, and here we go!!
