PPP Race League – 2025

2025 Pershore Plum Plodders Race League

PPP 2025 Race League: Advanced Notice.

An update, as we all know the trophies for 2024 have been sent out and congratulations to Paul Edmond, and Eleanor Robinson, who are the respective winners in 2024.

in 2025, as always we will be running a Race League and all Pershore Plum Plodders 1st and 2nd claim members are able to participate.

In 2025, we will be making some changes, which have been ratified by the committee. this year we have considered some different events, and taken into account their closeness to our home base of Pershore, and attempted to put events into the list that would make running as affordable as possible.

In 2025, we will reduce the number of events from 18 to 14, and this year, a maximum of your 7 best results will count towards the points tally. You can enter more races of course, and we encourage you to look over the list and participate in as many local races as possible, and note on occassion events are cancelled or deferred, and if late in the year, you may not have time to get you best 7 on the board.

The chosen events are as listed below, and this year we have added the choice of a marathon, and we are announcing this to allow as much time for training, that Pershore Plum Plodders who like this distance may need to prepare.

We will once again be allowing participants to play one Joker, and on that chosen race, you will gain double points. All you will need to do is let our Race Coordinator, Steve Nicoll, know BEFORE you cross the races start line, so you can leave it to the last moment, depending on how you are feeling on the day.

Points will be given out for those PPP who assist at the Plum 10k in August, and their may be an opportunity to gain further points if you help at a parkrun takeover during the year, but this is unconfirmed as yet.

In case of any ties in the points, there will be a point per race completed, so the more you enter, the more you will gain.

As usual we will be running Male and Female competitions, utilising England Athletics respected age grading.

At the end of the year, trophies will be given out in each competition, for the TOP 5 places, and therefore more people will have a chance to take a trophy home to proudly display in their trophy cabinet

Race League Rules and Regulations!

Based upon the list as shown above, you are invited to enter as many as you are able, and throughout the year, we will collate a league based upon your finishing position, in the Two Categories of Plum Males and Plum Females. The times will be subject to Age Grading based upon the England Athletics Age grade calculator, to give a level playing field against all running.

Times are then ranked in order and points allocated ie 1st place gets 30 points, 2nd place gets 29, and so on, until everyone is awarded points for their times. If more than 30 take part, everyone placed at 31+ will get 1 point towards their total.

Over the year, your BEST SEVEN scores will count towards the End of year points totals. This means you can miss one or two races, and still get a score for maximum participation of the qualifying maximum SEVEN events over the year.

In the unlikely chance of a tie at the end of the year, extra points will be given out for the number of events entered during the year, so it really is in the interest of everyone to enter as many events as possible, and so support our local running community

Some events have differing distances in the list, on the same day, and so you can choose which is your best option, ie on 6th October, if you plan to race at Cricklade, you can choose 10km, or the Half Marathon.

Additionally, we will add points to members who volunteer to help at the events below:

Pershore Plum 10k – August 24th – 2025 – (15 Points)

…and one of the events below

parkrun takeover – (date TBC) – 15 points

(Max Additional points available – 30 points)

…and you can play a Joker for ONE event, notification needs to be given BEFORE the Start of that event to Steve Nicoll the Race League Coordinator, and this will get you Double points for that event.

If PPP is your first claim, then the Race Coordinator will be able to find your timings on the races, however, please ensure you put your affiliation to PPP on any race entry. If after results are published you do not see your name, or you are 2nd claim, then you can contact Steve and he will check any additions. If you are affiliated to another club, but registered to the PPP, you will need to let Steve Nicoll know, so he can grab your times as required.

Results will be posted periodically, and at the end of the Year, at our Annual End of Year Award Ceremony the Winners will be given their trophies.
