PPP Race League – 2026

2026 Pershore Plum Plodders Race League – Now Live and Running!

Congratulations to Eleanor Robinson and Paul Barlow, who were the winners of the 2025 Ladies and Men’s Championships respectively.

Now we go again with a new league, some new events and some new rules and regulations.

For 2026, the following Events will be Race League events:

Note: Any Event in Red, the Proposed date is a guestimate based on previous dates that the event has taken place, as the event is announced, the table will be updated and everyone will be informed.

Also please note, open events are filling up fast, e.g. Tewkesbury, so please sign up as soon as possible to guarantee you participation in your chosen races.

2026 Participation Rules.

A big change this year, is that we require any Member who wishes to take part, then they need to β€œOpt IN”, and this can be done by letting our Race League Coordinator (Steve Nicoll) know.  He can be contacted via the usual Socials.

  • Members intending to take part in the 2026 Race League will need to inform Steve before the start of the First Event (21/02/2026), also to confirm your entry, please ensure you have received a confirmation via whichever means you sent your Opt In request.

Only Current PPP members will be allowed to enter this year’s League, and therefore anyone who joins the PPP after 21/02/2026, will have to wait until 2027 Race League!

Events have once again been chosen to reflect races in the local region, and potentially Members can attend 16 races, of which the best eight will be taken towards the final points total.

(Note: some events are on the same day, and Members will need to choose which events best fit their aspiration).

Points will also be given for those who assist at the Plum 10km in August or helping at the Members 10km in November. There may be an opportunity to gain points on a parkrun takeover, but this is still to be confirmed, as no date for such is currently in the 2026 PPP Diary.

An additional point will be added for each event that the Member has participated in, so the more you do, the better your overall tally.

Based upon the event list shown, you are invited to enter as many as you are able, and throughout the year, we will collate a league based upon your finishing positions, in the Two Categories of Plum Males and Plum Females. The times will be subject to Age Grading based upon the England Athletics Age grade calculator and applied to your current age at the time the event takes place, and this is done to try to give every runner a level playing field against all participants.

Times are then ranked in order and points allocated i.e. 1st place gets 30 points, 2nd place gets 29, and so on, until everyone is awarded points for their times. If more than 30 take part, everyone placed at 31+ will get 1 point towards their total.

Some events have differing distances in the list, on the same day, and so you can choose which is your best option, i.e. on 13th September, if you plan to race at Worcester, you can choose 10km, or the Half Marathon. In 2026, we will also have an option of two events held on the same day, and Members can do either, depending on their preference. (Bromsgrove or Crowle)

Additionally, we will add points to members who volunteer to help at one of the events below:

Pershore Plum 10k – August 31st, 2026 – (15 Points)

Members 10k – November 22nd, 2026 – (15 Points)

…and possibly extra points will be awarded, if the PPP do a parkrun takeover in 2026, and this is still to be decided.

parkrun takeover – 15 points

(Max Additional points available – 30 points) β€“ [NOTE: if there is no takeover in 2026, the maximum potential voluntary points will be 15]

Finally, you can play a Joker for ONE event, notification of intent to play will need to be given BEFORE the Start of that event to the Race League Coordinator, and this will get you Double points for that event.

If PPP is your first claim, then the Race League Coordinator will be able to find your timings on the races, however, please ensure you put your affiliation to PPP on any race entry. If after results are published you do not see your name, or you are 2nd claim, then you can contact Steve and he will check any additions. If you are affiliated to another club, but registered to the PPP, you will need to let Steve Nicoll know, so he can grab your times as required.

Results will be posted periodically, and at the end of the Year, at our Annual End of Year Award Ceremony the Winners will be given their trophies.
