Following the recent news that the 2020 Plum Festival has been cancelled this year, we have investigated our options to further consider our Plum 10K this year.
After discussions with Wychavon Council and Plum Festival organisers we have unfortunately had to make the very difficult and sad decision to cancel our Pershore Plum 10K in 2020.
As you can imagine there are many factors as with all events, large and small in the current climate of uncertainty. We did want to hold off until we knew more and were in constant hope the virus pandemic would have reached a point that events like ours could be considered even as a much-scaled back version and later in the year.
We also will not be offering a virtual alternative to this year’s event. We feel our event is more than just a 10K distance and more about the social aspect which of course we sadly can’t achieve at the present. Nor as club do we wish to increase the runners on the road on any given date and potentially create the potential of not achieving social distancing for all the Pershore community or encourage indirectly runners to meet up beyond the government guidelines.
We will keep you posted on planning for the 2021 event and our message to our fellow running clubs, friends and families is please continue to stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all in 2021’s event.
